COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Empowering Musicians to Manage Their Own Sound : Teach musicians and artists how to set up their equipment, perform basic sound checks, adjust their own monitors, and troubleshoot common live issues—especially useful for solo gigs or small-scale shows where a sound engineer isn't available.


  • Promote technical autonomy in musical environments : Prepare participants to work independently or collaborate with other professionals in concerts, rehearsals, live recordings, etc.


  • Promote good safety and maintenance practices : Ensure knowledge of basic electrical safety and equipment handling standards, as well as preventive maintenance.


  • Introduce technical planning for musical events : Teach how to prepare the "technical rider" and coordinate technical needs with venues, lighting technicians, and other production teams.

The Basic Concert Sound Technician Course is designed for those who wish to enter the exciting world of live sound, providing the essential tools and knowledge necessary to work as sound technicians at events, concerts, and live shows. Throughout the course, students will learn the fundamentals of acoustics, the operation of sound equipment, and best practices for mixing and distributing sound in concert settings, all with a practical and applicable approach.

The main objective of this course is to train participants to understand and operate the essential sound equipment and techniques for live concert performances. From initial preparation to live performance, students will learn how to create quality sound, how to operate sound equipment, and how to solve common problems that may arise during a live event.

The course is based on a combination of theory and practice. The theoretical classes will provide fundamental knowledge about acoustics, sound equipment, and mixing techniques. In addition, practical exercises will be conducted in which students will be able to apply what they have learned, operating the equipment and performing real-time mixing in simulated concert situations. Additionally, problem-solving and quick decision-making will be encouraged, essential skills for any live sound technician.

Student Profile

This course is intended for individuals wishing to enter the live sound industry, with no prior experience required. It is ideal for those interested in becoming sound technicians for concerts, festivals, and other live events, as well as for musicians and producers who wish to better understand the technical process behind live sound.

Duration and Certification

The course is 40 hours long, which includes independent study through virtual classroom content, 10 live classes with the instructor, and 1 hour of practical classes. Students may additionally purchase a package of up to 4 hours of practical training.

Upon completion, students will receive a certificate certifying their training as a Basic Concert Sound Technician, allowing them to take their first steps into the world of live sound.
